Toyseller. (5+)
Characters: Monkey, elephant and a cat (toys), Small boy, his mother and a toy seller.
A short story with moral values for kids.
Age Group:5+
Raju was a 7 year old boy, very intelligent and hard-working. His parents were busy whole day and he used to keep himself busy with his toys.
One day a toy seller comes outside his house and Raju gets fascinated to go out and see.
His mother was on phone and he ran out in excitement without making much noise.
Raju(R): bhaiya, how much is that monkey for?
Toy seller (Ts): If you want it, call your mother!
R: I can buy it using my money.
Ts: But that's not right little kid.
R: I am not so little, I am 7 years old.
Ts: (laughing) Ok ok, no worries. Call your elder brother or sister...
R: I don't have one.(getting impatient)
Ok, keep your monkey to yourself, how much is that elephant for?
But before he could reply, Raju interrupted....
No no, leave that. Tell me how much is that cat for?
Ts: Rather amused by the little boy, he said "ok, I can give you this cat for free"
Raju: But why will you do that?
Ts: Because I like you.
(By now Raju's mom came searching for him and saw him standing outside chatting with the toy seller)
Mother: Raju, I asked you to finish your homework and you are wasting your time here.
Raju: (Extremely happy) Mumma, do you know uncle is my friend and he will give me one toy for free. Which one should I pick, I am confused.
Mother: (shook her head) No Raju, we can buy a toy if you want. Never take anything from strangers for free.
Ts: Yes Raju, your mother is right.
Raju: ok, then tell me what should I take....
A monkey, cat or an elephant.
Mother: Take all of them if you want to.
Raju: No Mumma, we should have value of money, I will only take one toy.
Let me take an elephant, it has such a big trunk. It will be a fun sight to play with its silly big nose.
Everyone start laughing and the toy seller promised that next time he would come with more fun toys and he can choose one for himself.
Raju and his mom went inside.
Raju was very happy with the toy and hugged her Mumma.
Moral of story:
1. Never take anything for free from anyone.
2. Always value money and do not over-spend, when you go shopping.
